Friends of God’s Wives International Hold Christmas Party For Widows

There was dancing and ceremony at the weekend when God’s Wives International Widows Ministry held a Christmas party for widows in Maryland, Lagos.

The event was part of the activities to recognize and give awards to widows who excelled in their endevours in the outgoing year.

Speaking at the event, Olori Dame Ayo Yemisi Jaiyeola, the missioner of God’s Wives International Ministry, said that she organized the party to thank God for His mercies and blessings on the organization and the widows, adding that God has been faithful to the organization.

She disclosed that similar parties had been held for widows in other parts of the country, adding that widows from different parts of Lagos State joined the party.

Olori Jaiyeola stated that widows from different organizations also attended the party.

The missioner God’s Wives International Ministry, who has been in ministry for 30 years, thanked family, friends and stakeholders who have supported her financially and otherwise and prayed to God to bless and replenish their pockets.

Olori Jaiyeola paid tribute to her late husband, The Priest and Dr. Jaiyeola, who inspired the ministry because of his passion for issues that concern widows.

 

She frowned at the way widows are treated in society and called on the government and society to treat widows fairly and equitably.

She stated that many widows are suffering and living in penury across the country and called on all to give widows their due.

She posited that everyone should encourage widows to come together so that they can interact with others and gain insights into how they can improve their lives.

Olori Jaiyeola said that one of the challenges she faces in the running of the ministry is inadequate funding and called on high net worth individuals and corporate entities to support the ministry so that it can do more for widows in the country.

Also speaking at the event, Barr. Mrs. Olufunke Oluwole, chairperson, Serendipity House of Widows Foundation end of the year 2024 party, said in her 20 years standing with Serendipity that the party is an annual event where widows come together to celebrate and meet new widowed friends like themselves.

She stated that the ministry takes care of widows, single widows and widows that are in distress, adding that the ministry provides shelter, incentives, business opportunities, general counseling and guidance to women who suffered loss of their spouses.

Barr. Oluwole said that the party was an opportunity to celebrate the grace of God in the lives of the women. She urged the widows to trust in God.

In her comment at the event, Mrs. Zikora Omowunmi Adenike Oladejo, from Widows Rejoice Mission Nigeria, said that the day was a day to reach out to widows, dance with them.

She said that widows are going through trying times, and called on all to extend their hand of fellowship to the widows and make their lives better and easier.

Oladejo called for an end to stigmatization and discrimination against widows in the country. She urged widows to continue to thrive, adding that the situation will improve.

The Vice Chairman of the foundation, Lady Tutu Ososanya, a Permanent Secretary in Lagos State, showed her excitement always to see the widows happy…

Also at the event was the proud father of Serendipity House Missioner, elder and experienced clergyman in the Anglican Church, who advised that when widowhood happens, what to ask yourself is “what next’ and move on.

A lot of food, gifts and cash support were given to widows and some personalities at the event.

‘There is hunger in the land. Serendipity House Widows Foundation is concerned with ensuring that no widow goes hungry, or their children beg for a good life, ” Olori Jaiyeola said.
