Serendipity Nigeria is a not for Profit initiative working to support women and girls without neglecting the family. It is registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Serendipity has no religious, political or cultural bias. But Gender based.
Since its birth in October 1995, Serendipity House Nigeria had organized public forums quarterly through lectures, symposium, seminars, tracts and bulletins “the VOLUNTEERS” to encourage inter-organizational consultation, inter governmental and non-governmental articulation and transfer of ideas and information that concern
women.
OUR NAME: “SERENDIPITY” is the facility of making happy chance discoveries. (By Horace whopole)

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.
- Initiate and provoke debates and consultations among women on women’s human rights, girls’ rights to education in Nigeria.
- To project alterative but constructive, non-violent means of solving societal problems through education.
- To increase women’s political awareness and to encourage them to join politics, thereby increasing their meaningful participation in natural development.
- To provide women with technical skills thereby promoting their economic empowerment.
- To highlight the achievements of women in business, provide pertinent business information and create forum for the exchange of ideas.
- Produce through its research based activities that focus on Women’s right discrimination, abuse of the girl child in the area of education, discrimination against women and family conditions and scrutinize the reporting process to draw international and national attention to noticeable deficiencies.
- To highlight quality of life through sustainable patterns of production and consumption of adequate health services, attention to sexuality, reproductive and mental health, basic sanitation.
- Family sensitization of the HIV/AIDS scourge.

Community Service Programs
The mission of the Community Service Program is to address the urgent needs of people who are experiencing an acute crisis. The Community Service Program acts as both a resource and a gateway to help enhance individual functioning, family stability and community building. Access to all service components is open and eligibility determinations are minimal.
The Community Service Program is an informal, accessible point of entry into the Center for Family Life’s comprehensive service system. As such, it provides a valuable first point of contact for many neighborhood residents who ultimately may choose to engage in other more “high intensity” services.
The Community Service Program provides a variety of integrated services and activities that are available to the community daily, year round. Four primary services have been developed in direct response to the needs of the community:
Thrift Shop: Provides families in need with used clothing, household items at no cost.
Food Pantry: Distributes emergency meals to individuals and families in order to help them through a time of crisis.
Advocacy Clinic: Assists people through the use of numerous supports, such as counseling, and referrals. Helps individuals and families access and use government services and resolve matters related to healthcare, housing. The Clinic run by a founding member takes care of the helpless sick at no extra cost.
“Single Stop”: Hosting multiple services which can be accessed in one location for customer convenience, “Single Stop” provides a familiar and comfortable environment where clients can receive professional consultation and support to address financial, legal and personal issues.

ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN FOR FUNDING AND MEMBERSHIP
INTRODUCTION
The Mission for Women and Girls (MWG) hopes to be the leading philanthropic institution championing an equitable society for women and girls in Nigeria. For 12 years, we have given voice to women’s truths, changed public consciousness, and transformed public policy in our own little way.
The (MWG)’s movement changed our lives, the way we talk, the way we think.
Change our homes and work lives. It changed our sisters’ lives and our daughters’ and sons’ lives forever.
Now, we need to change our country and change the world.
“MWG.” symbolizes our institution’s deep trust in women to bring forward solutions to the most serious issues affecting their lives. For 12 years, the (MWG) has supported women’s solutions with our leadership, expertise, and financial resources. We have accomplished a great deal but we are far from done.
Our vision calls for an institutional endowment capable of providing ample resources for the long term. Change takes time. With so much at stake, we must move quickly. But we also must invest strategically, giving our strategies the power to be seen and heard.
Our vision is bold. Our request of you is equally so.
We are calling for (MWG200) daring and serious philanthropists to join with us to secure the advances we have won and create the future we desire. This group—The (MWG200) —will source for N15 million or more in the future of women and girls, bringing the (MWG) endowment to N30 million for our 20th anniversary in 2015.
Of equal importance, The (MWG200) will bring their intellect and passion to the (MWG) most important decision-making tables. Your voice and experience is crucial to securing the legacy of our foremothers and advancing public discourse and policymaking.
Five women and men have seeded this effort with over N1 million as of July 2000.

The MWG supports the efforts of women and girls to govern their own lives and influence the world around them. Through its leadership, expertise, and financial support, the Foundation champions an equitable society by effecting change in public consciousness, law, philanthropy, and social policy.
Beliefs and Values Statement:
Our work is guided by our vision of a just and safe world where power and possibility are not limited by gender, race, class, sexual orientation, disability or age. We believe that equity and inclusion are the cornerstones of a true democracy in which the worth and dignity of every person are valued.

Our motive has consistently supported the premise that the more thoroughly a woman governs her own life, the more effectively she can function as a citizen; that the more she is included in the life of the country, the more effectively our democracy functions.
Throughout a 12-year history, the MWG has helped to counsel about 400 women and given little help to the needy and lost.
Today, we conduct advocacy and public education campaigns and direct resources of all kinds to cutting-edge projects in our little way across the neighborhood that found ourselves nurturing girls’ leadership, protect the health and safety of women and girls, and provide low-income women with the tools to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

At one moment access to health care is the issue, at another moment the right of women on welfare to gain entry into higher education.
Women now, in our time, must secure the advances we have won. We cannot allow the clock to be turned back to an earlier time.

What people want is very simple. They want a group of Nigerian women, good, and empowered.

This results in cutting-edge work that has a huge impact, not only nationally, but also internationally.”
Today’s public world does not reflect the future we desire for our children and our grandchildren.
Women are not yet equal partners with men in public and spheres of government.
Women will change public life and institutions as they bring a fuller range of human experience and needs into consideration. In this way, women’s influence will be felt on the simplest matters and on the most urgent issues for human security. New women leaders will depend on an active, women-led civic culture that supports them and holds them accountable. They will also depend on men who support this vision in both their public and private lives.
The (MWG) has a mandate to move women rapidly into full participation in the public world, increasing their influence on the world around them.
Building on 12years of achievement, the power of The MWG, and the strength of a N30 million endowments, we will meet this mandate. Together, we will eliminate the barriers remaining to women’s leadership in public life. We will focus our strategy and the endowment’s resources in three key areas.
CREATING THE FUTURE WE DESIRE
Study after study has shown that there is no effective development strategy in which women do not play a central role. When women are fully involved, the benefits can be seen immediately: families are healthier; they are better fed; their income, savings, and reinvestment go up. And what is true of families is true of communities and, eventually, of whole countries.
MWG- We will explore and work to change gender roles that place women as the primary keepers of private values in the home and leave the public world to men. We desire a future in which men and women lead alongside each other in workplaces, government, communities, and families.
We will reshape public policy, bringing women’s perspectives and solutions to every issue from globalization to national security, and from family policy to ending all forms of violence.
We will position the (MWG) for enduring impact in a global context by linking women’s voices at the local, state, tribal, and national levels.
We will build the capacity of key organizations and leaders seeking to make ours a truly effective democracy. (MWG) grantees will achieve results. Our vision must lead society into the future, and their voices resound at every decision-making table.
The (MWG) has created a better world for women and girls. We have helped to nurture strong, self-confident girls and provided economic stability and self-sufficiency for their mothers, and for all women, building a strong foundation for our families and our society.
